I have two opinions on this poem. In my first opinion of reading this poem, I took it to mean that the truth, when told, should be let out slowly to others. Some people can not handle the truth and it needs to be in the form of a little white lie sometimes to benefit the other person. The idea of the truth being too bright can mean telling the whole truth all at once can sometimes be way too shocking and can blind the person as the sun blinds us when it hits our eyes too quickly. I still feel that this is what the poem means, but I also felt some religious message within the poem also. Being that I was in Catholic school my entire life, it reminds me of a story in the Bible of Jesus teaching of how the truth may be revealed by signs and other types of figures, or it can be taught by lightning. Lightning is how either St. Peter or St. Paul was taught, if I remember correctly. The truth appeared suddenly to him as he wanted it and went blind because it was as fast and bright as lightning. I know Emily Dickinson was very knowledgeable of the Bible and religious teachings, so it could mean that also. I personally interpret it as the first part of this summary I wrote, but both make sense.

“Tell all the Truth but tell it slant” by Emily Dickinson
I also summarized this poem by Emily Dickinson not too long ago and wanted to include it in my blog. After reading about Emily Dickinson and lloking into her poetry, I find her to be extremely interesting, talented, and fun to read. Here is the summary of the poem, "Tell all the Truth but tell it slant."
I heard a Fly buzz – when I died by: Emily Dickinson
I summerized this poem not too long ago, and I found it to be a fantastic poem. I have included my summary of it here. Enjoy!
This poem by Emily Dickinson is yet again a poem about death, as she writes about so often. This poem explained the person who is dying to have a a painless death, but yet it seems to be extremely gruesome in vision. The fly in the poem is very important and significant and is also in 4 different lines throughout the poem. The fly symbolizes death. The fly is the main image in the poem and is what the speaker sees and experiences as she is dying. The air in the room is still and quiet, there are people watching over her silently as she is dying, but she only hears the fly. The line that says, “The Eyes around – had wrung them dry” explains how the people who are witnessing this death have no more tears to cry and no more grief left to give. “The last onset” is her last breath, the end of one life, yet the beginning of her eternal life. She is ready to die and anticipates her death. Now the fly appears to her again, although “the king” mentioned, who may be God, does not appear. This may be a sign that she has no passed, since the fly may represent death again. This may say that after all, there is no life after death for her. This poem was very eerie in my opinion, but yet again another well written poem by Dickinson.

My Poem and Song BrokenDown
So, one of our posts was supposed to be our favorite poem and another post had to be our favorite song. Now, long before this assignment was given I had already posted my favorite poem, and a song, although not my favorite, but up in the top 3. So for my third post, I decided to briefly analyze "why" they were both chosen.
I love the poem web of love. When I first got topgether with my girlfriend, I liked to write her poetry and leave it on her bed, so when she would come home, she would read it right away. It was a nice way to end off a long day. Now, another month or two go by and I am ready to write another. I came up with this idea about how it would be so cool to speak of how our lives have weaved together into this web. This web would be a web of love. I started to write my edition and then looked online for some word help and noticed someone had wrote a poem, "Web of Love." I dont know who wrote it but it was the most beautiful thing I have read and it was perfectly made for what I wanted to say. So I printed the poem and told my girl that someone must have wrote this for us, because I could have not done a better job explaining how I felt. Thank you unknown poet for writing a perfect poem and one I will never forget.
As for the song, I happened to hear it back in the early part of 2001. I thought it was one of the most creative and message sent songs that I have heard in a while. There are not many rap/hip-hop songs out there that were sending messages at the time. Before I heard that song, the last good messeage was, "Brenda's got a baby", by TuPac Shakur. Since then, "Jesus Walks", by Kanye West was another good one. Rap music started with messages, especially positive ones being sent out to the community, and then it started speaking about some BS like jewels, money, woman, and a bunch of other things that "New" money bought them. When the lyrics are written in such a way that they flow perfectly and also have something to say, the music then becomes "Pure Poetry" just like the song by Freddro Starr below.

Web of Love
Going back 4 years ago, I wrote a poem for my girlfriend. She loved it very much and the look on her face made me feel so good. She seemed so much more happy then if I were to have bought her something material. After that day I began to look up and research romantic poetry and try to find a poem that I thought could express my feelings for her. I came accross this poem called "The Web of Love." IT WAS PERFECT. I printed it out and had it made up on nice paper, laminated it and attached a rose to it. I told her that I did not write this one, but it explains things perfectly and I dont think i could have done any better to describe my feelings. I have posted this poem for all of you to enjoy also. The author seems to be named "Titilade" and I wish I knew her/him to let her/him know what a beautiful job they have done in writing this poem. ENJOY!!!
The Web of Love
On a beautiful moon night
Creatively
You worked your art
You spun a web
Around my heart
Creatively
You worked your art
You spun a web
Around my heart
How beautifully
Your deeds have spread
Each intricately
Woven thread
Your deeds have spread
Each intricately
Woven thread
With strands of care
You dried my tears
Your gentleness
Dispelled my fears
You dried my tears
Your gentleness
Dispelled my fears
Your wisdom
Helped me understand
And patiently
You held my hand
Helped me understand
And patiently
You held my hand
To give me courage
To brave the storm
With kindness
You have kept me warm
To brave the storm
With kindness
You have kept me warm
Your passion
Lit a glowing fire
That filled my soul
With sweet desire
Lit a glowing fire
That filled my soul
With sweet desire
You're all
That I was dreaming of
For the web you spun
Was made of love
That I was dreaming of
For the web you spun
Was made of love

"What If" by:Fredro Starr
If you have listened to Hip-Hop and Rap music back in the early to mid 90's, a group by the name of Onyx had come out. They were consisted of 4 members, 2 of which made it later in acting. The two that became actor's were Sticky Finga's and Fredro Starr. As the years went by, Onyx made another 2 albums but then sort of fell off the charts in the Rap industry. I was never a huge fan, but did listen to a few of their songs. Most were about stupid things and I did not enjoy them. Then Fredro Starr made a solo album in the year 2000. A song that was on this album was called "What If." I found the lyrics to be very interesting and the song truly made me think "What If" about the things he was speaking of. The lyrics are posted below. I am very sorry about the vulger language that is in some of the verses, but I wanted to leave it in so all can understand the exact meaning of the song. I thought it was a song to think about and was very creative. I am posting about this because I feel that it is more on a poetic level than a gangster rap level. Of course it doesnt compare to the mastermind lyrisists like Eminem, Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie, and Big-L, but it stuck in my mind up to this day. I hope you like it also and find it as creative as I have. Let me know what you all think.

Yo, what if Pac was still thuggin?
What if he was alive?
would all these niggas still be screamin out "ride or die"!
What if Milli Vanilli's record never skipped on stage?
they'd be the illest con niggas in the game today
Yo, what if Jordan never had Scottie?
What if Sammie never ratted Gotti?
What if New York without Giuliani?
What if Mike Tyson fought AlI in his prime?
What if Will Smith got gangsta
and start cursin rhymes?
What if Erik never met Parish?

What if they neva made candy paint for Impalas?
my down south niggas'll wil' out, word up

What if computers shut down for the Y2K?
What if NWA neva had DRE?
What if Eminem was black?
would he have sold five mil.
or would he be 1 out of 5 million rappers with no deal?
What if you had to pay for air?
a dollar a breath
half the hood would fuckin pass out and choke to death
What if hip hop was banned in 52 states?
they'd give you 5 years a piece
for records, cd's and tapes
What if the world stopped?
no more time,fuck a watch
What if there's no laws
no jails,and no more cops?
shit is crazy
shit I be thinkin about
yo, it's just questions
that I ask myself
when I analyze the world when I'm by myself
I think some bugged out shit when I'm by myself
drinkin weed smokin hennessy all by myself
questions,that I ask myself
when I analyze the world when I'm by myself
I think some bugged out shit when I'm by myself
drinkin weed smokin hennessy all by myself
its questions...that I ask myself

Yo, what if Snoop was the president?
shit we'd all be high
blowin chronic in the white house
smoke in the sky
What if they neva made the Coupe 5
what would I drive?
probably a 430 drop,ruthless,wit buggy eyes
What if Red and Meth freestyled
and battled on stage?
What if Daz had bald heads
and Onyx had braids?
What if history was changed?
slavery reversed
would black ladies see white boys
and clinch they purse?
What if Dialo didn't get shot,41 times?
What if the kids was popular
that went to Columbine?
What if Ewing would have dunked it
instead of faded away?
tha knicks woulda been the champs
he wouldn't a got traded away
yo What if Run neva met D
would i'a been a MC?
What if its Selow?

What if the world stop?
